‣ Glen Campbell’s final tour brings him to Club Nokia. The 75-year-old songsmith recently released an acclaimed new album, “Ghost on the Canvas,” and opening tonight will be the band featuring two of his kids, Instant People.
‣ Filter’s Culture Collide festival kicks off in Echo Park with five shows [full schedule/set times, after the jump] – highlighted by: Liam Finn at the Echo; Ximena Sariñana and the Black Box Revelation at the Echo Park independent Co-Op; the Morning After Girls at Taix; and Lindstrøm at the ReForm Academy. Plenty of local bands are in on the action too. A wristband for the four-day festival is $20.
‣ L.A. trio the Happy Hollows, armed with a great batch of new songs (from what we heard at the recent Frogtown Art Walk), play the Satellite, with Incan Abraham, the Soft Hands and One Trick Pony. The evening will start with a surprise set by a new project featuring Kim Deal and Nina Nastasia.
‣ Speaking of new material, it’s been too long since we’ve heard from electro-soul charmer Sam Sparro, and he’ll present new songs tonight at Largo.
‣ And Evidence does a night at the Viper Room behind his new album for Rhymesayers, “Cats & Dogs.”
