Tonight in L.A.: Merle Haggard/Kris Kristofferson, Culture Collide (Yacht, Avi Buffalo, Jason Falkner, more), Nick Lowe, OMD, Parson Red Heads

1

Friday fun:

‣ Filter’s Culture Collide festival continues its multinational merriment at various venues in Echo Park, highlighted by some some folks you probably already know (Yacht, Avi Buffalo, Ximena Sarinana, the Postelles) and some you might want to investigate – including Australia’s WIM (that’s their video for “See You Hurry,” above), Demark’s the Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Belgium’s the Black Box Revelation and Australia’s the Morning After Girls (whose late set Thursday was great). Plenty of SoCal artists too, including Jason Falkner, the Henry Clay People, Hands and Writer. Full venue, set time info after the jump.
The Parson Red Heads swing back through L.A. to headline the Satellite. Viva Voce, originally part of the tour, have dropped off. Supporting tonight will be Last American Buffalo and Death to Anders.
‣ A couple of legends at the Greek Theatre: Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson.
‣ At the Echo but not part of Culture Collide: Cymbals Eat Guitars and Hooray For Earth.
Kitten opens for Elecric Six at the Key Club.
‣ And Judson McKinney kicks off a residency at Casey’s downtown, supported on the first night by Pageants.
