Happy Halloween: Superchunk covers the Misfits; videos from Matt & Kim, Young Galaxy, Pam Shaffer

1

The trick-or-treaters haven’t even hit the doorstep and we’ve had enough of Halloween already. Or maybe we’re just grumpy because we missed the awesome KCRW Masquerade because of a weekend warrior-related injury. Anyway, here are three Day of the Dead-appropriate videos (and a download) for your sack of candy:

Indie stalwarts Superchunk have long had an affection for the Misfits – buried somewhere in their archives is a 10-year-old live version of “Horror Business.” Today they released a cover of “Where Eagles Dare” that’s suitable for any Halloween playlist.

And did we mention the videos? Here, have a look:

Matt & Kim (yawn) are joined by Soulja Boy (yawn) and Andrew W.K. (yawn) for a dance party in a morgue. The song is “I’m a Goner.” If only.

The ghostly but not necessarily ghastly video for “Phantoms” by Canadian outfit Young Galaxy. Their latest album “Shapeshifting” is recommended.

The mildly creepy video for L.A. songstress Pam Shaffer’s “Henry” (off her 2010 album “As We Are”) was shot at HM 157 with an iPhone.
