Download: Reptar, ‘Stuck In My Id’

Riding the wave of giddy, falsetto-addled electronica created by the likes of Foster the People, MGMT and Passion Pit, Athens, Ga.-based Reptar injects off-kilter elements, and that weird X-factor works for them. Synthesizers forward, Ryan Engelberger, William Kennedy, Andrew McFarland, Graham Ulicny and latest member Poof Daunghty have no shame in focusing on indie dance music. They consider their genre as “electro-dance-sexpop” after all, but they oddly seem to get inspiration from space and sugar for psychedelic subject matter underneath all the pop sheen. Choruses are sticky and land somewhere between Modest Mouse and Matt & Kim (which makes sense since producer Ben Allen has worked with the latter). Their EP “Obangle Fizz Y’all” is out now via Vagrant Records.
