Video premiere: United Ghosts, ‘Holes Into the Night’

by kevin on November 21, 2011

For an unsigned, independent artist, singer-guitarist Axel Steuerwald has always been able to coax a big, radio-ready sound out of his bands’ recordings, first with Mere Mortals and now with the new quartet United Ghosts. So it goes with the new single “Holes Into the Night,” a dreamy, driving slice of neo-shoegaze rock made in Steuerwald’s home studio in Silver Lake. In singer-bassist Sha Sabi, guitarist Jason O and drummer Sean Burgess, Steuerwald has found bandmates who share his vision for marrying psychedelic Britpop with electro trappings. “Holes Into the Night,” just out as a limited-edition 7-inch (the digital download has a six-minute edit of the song as well), teases a full-length the band has planned for 2012. Director Arian Soheili’s video for the song is the slickly edited, studio-performance variety, just as pro as the tune itself.
