Premiere: Flora & Fauna, ‘Secret Preference’

If the nimble guitar work doesn’t get you, the falsetto will. And if those don’t work, give in to the hook, and the beats. Yes, they’re all in four minutes’ work for Flora & Fauna, the new L.A. quartet whose early songs seem equally beholden to post-punk and soul-pop. The foursome of Matt Bernstein, Adam Gunther, Casey Baird and Charlie Ellis – SoCal natives who honed their chops at Connecticut’s Wesleyan University* – can swing from droll to whimsical in the turn of a phrase. Outside of their new song “Secret Preference” (an ideal mate for Papa’s “I Am the Lion King”), Flora & Fauna have a Strokesy seen-it-all comportment, and who knows, maybe they have. After all, haven’t you as well?

* Corrected, thanks
Correction: it’s Wesleyan University.
Wesleyan College is an all girls college in the South.
Difference? Just a bit.
And this band is awesome especially that guy Matt, he’s cool.
thanks eric
Same college as MGMT? Sounds like they had the same professor of rock.
Cool tune though.
@Taylor : Amusingly, the movie “School of Rock” was also written by a Wesleyan grad! (Mike White)
