We’re on strike: Stop SOPA and PIPA

Many websites (among them Wikipedia) are either locked or blacked out today in what will be the largest online protest day in history. Via Google, here’s why:
Two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House, would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business. Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA. The Senate will begin voting on Jan. 24. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late.
Buzz Bands LA will join in the protest by being silent today. Just after midnight, we posted a showlist (next post) for Wednesday in deference to the bands playing tonight, but that will be it. We’ll be back Thursday with twice the content.
