Download: Blouse, ‘Into Black’

Nostalgia never gets old, despite its definition, and Portland trio Blouse have a steady hold on romanticizing the act of reminiscing with their sultry ’80s-leaning sound. Although they may fall in to the chillwave genre, sweeping song arches in tandem with Charlie Hilton’s melancholic vocals not only save them but redirect them toward dream-pop, thus making their tunes rather soothing for fans of Wild Nothing. Songs such as the slightly gothic “Into Black” and the hazy “Videotapes” make their self-titled record a wonderfully wistful listen. Oh, and if you’re getting any Unknown Mortal Orchestra vibes, it’s because the two bands share Jacob Portrait as bassist, who also produced the album. “Blouse” is out now via Captured Tracks.
