Download: Summer Twins, ‘I Don’t Care’

Maybe it’s because their hometown of Riverside is so far from the beach, but Summer Twins imbue their indie-pop with splashes of longing as well as rays of the sunshine. When we first heard from sisters Chelsea and Justine Brown in late 2010, they released the cherubic, rough-around-the-edges EP “The Good Things.” This week their self-titled debut album comes out on Burger Records, and it’s a jangling, dreamy homage to ’60s girl groups and the ’80s/’90s twee-pop (think Talulah Gosh) that followed. Coming later this year: supporting dates on the Nerves’ reunion tour. (Wait, the Nerves are doing a reunion tour? Holy 1970s, Batman, we shouldn’t miss this.) Anyway, “I Don’t Care” is as nice a slice of retro-pop as you’ll hear. Kudos to Dad for his record collection.
