Download: Wild Nothing, ‘Nowhere’

Wild Nothing‘s debut record “Gemini” was a standout among 2010’s tsunami of dream-pop, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from Jack Tatum and Co. We had an inkling that Tatum was taking this time to record a follow-up, and today we have proof. The first taste from Wild Nothing’s new batch of songs comes in the form of a 7-inch featuring Twin Sister’s Andrea Estella on vocals. There’s a nice breathy reciprocity between the two, since Estella’s band revolves around the same sun. Recording in an actual studio this time around, Tatum makes use of his new tools and surroundings for a drastically different listen. Vocals and guitars are crisper, and the melodies are surprisingly a lot more twangy. However, Tatum has maintained his well-known flow that is also still likely to beckon fans of the Sarah Records era. The single will be available Feb. 21 on limited vinyl via Captured Tracks, with another new tune, “Wait,” as the B-side.
