No sooner had Matt Pryor finished a victory lap behind the Get Up Kids’ comeback album, last year’s “There Are Rules,” than he released his second solo album. “May Day” is a folksy tour through the heart and mind of the beloved Kansan, revealing him as somebody who still believes in the game of love but who’s been around enough to know the outcomes. As with the rest of his estimable catalog with TGUK, the New Amsterdams and his kids’ music incarnation the Terrible Twos, there’s no shortage of hooks on “May Day.” Or smart couplets. Or sticky choruses. Sing along if you must.
