Didn’t we read an obituary for record stores about five years ago? Another new shop and event space – Mount Analog (5906 1/2 Figueroa) – celebrates in grand opening today. The Highland Park shop joins recent and semi-recent arrivals Origami in Echo Park, Permament in Eagle Rock, Wombleton in Eagle Rock, High Fidelity in Los Feliz, Mono in Echo Park and Jackwater in Atwater Village (among others) as shops that have launched since 2009. Anyway, Mount Analog will cater to eclectic tastes, sell gear and serve as U.S. headquarters for British label Finders Keepers Records and the American B-Music Collective. Things get rolling starting today with live performances and DJ sets from Mariachi El Bronx, the Babies, Peanut Butter Wolf and more. [Schedule after the jump.]

‣ The Dakota Lounge, the Santa Monica venue destroyed by fire two years ago this month, has risen from the ashes. The venue, at 1026 Wilshire Blvd., has already opened its doors, and on Saturday, July 21, it will celebrate its grand opening, with Peanut Butter Wolf holding forth.

‣ Complex, the new venue in Glendale where LaBrie’s/the Scene Bar, has run into hold-ups and has had to postpone its opening.
