Ears Wide Open: Wild Eyes

0

Wild Eyes hail from west of the 605, but the music on their first two releases – the “Deep Sky” single and last month’s “Blue Haze” EP – finds its roots in the more melodic British shoegazer bands of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Frank Quattro, Eric Padilla and mates got together in high school and college, and self-produced the EP in a garage and a rehearsal space (nicely done, at that). Like the best music in the genre, the EP balances ambient effects, bursts of squalor and straightforward pop melodies. The title track lets you feel the “Blue” along with with “Haze.”
