Buzz Bands LA Stage at Taix to feature Soft Swells, Warships, the Lonely Wild, the Record Company, Pageants and more

Remember Sunset Junction? Not the fenced-off, charge-you-an-arm-and-a-leg Sunset Junction, but the free, neighborhood-y festival of its early years? That’s what organizers have in mind for Echo Park Rising – a free, one-day celebration of local music, art and commerce at more than two dozen venues in Echo Park. More than 70 local acts (and counting) are in the mix for the day’s entertainment.

Genre-mashing indie-rockers Fool’s Gold [pictured], cumbia septet Buyepongo and new rock radio hitmakers Youngblood Hawke head up the lineup on the outdoor main stage planned for the parking lot at Taix restaurant, where they will be joined by NO, Robert DeLong, Lavender Diamond, Dante Vs. Zombies, Foxygen, Gothic Tropic and HOTT MT. The music is scheduled to start at 12:30.

The Buzz Bands LA Stage in Taix, which kicks off at 2 p.m., will feature a 11 o’clock nightcap set from Youngblood Hawke, preceded by (in reverse order of set time) Soft Swells, Warships, A House for Lions, Future Ghost, the Record Company, the Lonely Wild, Pageants, Michael Davis With Lions and the Far West.

In all, more than two dozen venues figure to offer entertainment throughout the day, and plans and lineups are still being finalized. Music at the Echo will run from about 1 to 8 p.m., with local favorites Seasons, Feeding People and Manhattan Murder Mystery scheduled.

Also (and all of this is tentative, as schedules are still be worked out):

‣ The Echoplex is tentatively set to host the Stones Throw crew, Anticon DJs as well as live bands such as Hands, Oh Boy Les Mecs, Holloys and the Dead Ships.
