The 74th Annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival – a free, all-ages cultural event whose roots date back more than 3,000 years – has added a live music stage for this year’s festivities, which go off from 5 to 11 p.m. this Saturday in Chinatown. In addition to the fest’s traditional activities, five local bands will perform at Chinatown’s Central and West Plazas on Saturday evening.

Father Tiger, Tic Tic Boom!, Max and the Moon, Little Red Lung and Young Empress comprise the lineup (curated by Buzz Bands LA).

The Live Music Stage comes in addition to the Moon Festival’s usual offerings – including moon viewing, cooking demonstrations, the Dragon Dance, storytelling, artisan booths, calligraphy workshops, a ping-pong tournament and, of course, feasting on moon cakes. Other entertainment includes a DJ set by KCRW’s Jeremy Sole and a performance by the South Pasadena Strings Program’s Los Angeles Children’s Orchestra. Chinatown’s art galleries will be open late, and there will be food trucks and a craft beer garden.

After the jump, set times for Live Music Stage:
