Happy Mid-Autumn Moon:
‣ Returning for another highly anticipated LA date, Britain’s Alt-J will have fans piling into the Bootleg Bar. Wildcat! Wildcat! and Cayucas also round out the bill for a solid night.
‣ In tour in support of their “Forward/Return” EP, the Album Leaf headlines the Satellite. [Check out “Descent.”] Drew Andrews supports.
‣ Hip-hop hero GZA (of the Wu-Tang Clan), Killer Mike, Sweet Valley and Bear Hands all hold down the fort at the El Rey Theatre.
‣ R&B/soul/blues multi-instrumentalist Booker T. Jones brings down the house at the Roxy Theater where Quinto Soul and Buyepongo will join the fun.
‣ The Hollywood Bowl presents another blast from the past as The Go-Go’s headline a night of New Wave. Also playing: the Psychedelic Furs, the Motels and Bow Wow Wow.
‣ The Central Plaza in Chinatown celebrates Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, and over at the live music stage there (curated by Buzz Bands LA), Father Tiger, Tic Tic Boom!, Max and the Moon, Little Red Lung and Young Empress all play throughout the evening. Grab some free mooncakes and join us. Set times here.
‣ And if you need some chill tunes to cool you down after baking in the sun all day, Northern Youth [check out “She’s in the Wild”] Coby Brown, Wisecub and the Trouble With Templeton all play the Hotel Café.
