Gallery: Music at the Moon Festival in Chinatown

The 74th annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival on Saturday night in Chinatown had a little bit everything – cultural performances such as the East Wind Youth Foundation’s Dragon Dance, moon cakes, spirited ping-pong competition, robust crowds in the art galleries, kids in traditional garb dancing like crazy and, for the first time, a local music stage. Playing in a locale only steps away from the historic Madame Wong’s (and conveniently located opposite the craft beer garden), five bands brought the good stuff to a crowd seemingly energized by the harvest moon. Kids danced to the early set by Young Empress; Little Red Lung followed with a riveting set of art-pop; Tic Tic Boom! ignited the evening dance party as the moon rose in the east; Max and the Moon kept it going (top photo); and Father Tiger turned things into a late-night disco. Here’s a gallery from the night.
