Public Enemy – just announced this week as a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee – visits Club Nokia, performing along with X-Clan, Monie Love, Schoolly D and Leaders of the New School.
‣ Gee, does anybody like Social Distortion? The veteran punk band’s string of sold-out southern California shows continues at the House of Blues – the sixth of 15 sold-out shows the band has in a one-month span in either Anaheim or West Hollywood. And they just added more dates in January.
‣ Mercury Prize nominee Jessie Ware makes her first L.A. appearance, doing a shot at the Bootleg.
The Mountain Goats play the Troubadour behind their new album “Transcendental Youth,” which indeed is might transcendental throughout. That’s their video for “Cry for Judas,” above.
‣ Garage rockers King Tuff return to L.A. for a couple of shows, the first tonight at the Echo with Lovely Bad Things and Zig Zags.
“A Country Christmas” at the Satellite features twangy holioday fare from a huge case of local artists, including Angela Correa, Adeline Danti, Maria DeLuca, Candice Kirk, Claire McKeown, Meegan Michel, Margo Paige, Jillinda Palmer, Sara Radle, Mary Verplank and Brittney Westover.
