Dum Dum Girls celebrated the release of their third full-length, “Too True,” with a no-nonsense show Tuesday night at the Echo, the quartet racing through an hour of songs. About half were from the new album, an ’80s-influences outing produced by veteran songwriter-turned-producer Richard Gottehrer. Dum Dum Girls’ frontwoman Dee Dee Penny (aka Kristin Welchez, nee Gundred) kept stage banter to a minimum, instead concentrating on delivering an urgent show that thrilled the packed house. Opening the show were two up-and-coming indie-pop bands from L.A., Dream Boys and Roses.
