Video: DWNTWN, ‘Missing You’

L.A. duo DWNTWN’s roots as folkies shine through in their latest single “Missing You.” Yes, tucked in among the whooshes of their electronic production, breathy girl/boy vocals and dreamy synths are a lovely tickle of banjo and coat of strummed acoustic guitar. It all makes for a drop-dead-pretty pop song, even before you see Lenny Beckerman’s almost-sepia-toned video for the song. DWNTWN’s new EP, a self-titled affair that follows the late-2012 “Red Room” EP, continues to find Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda (who now are joined by Chris Sanchez and Dan Vanchieri as a quartet) two cuts above most synth-pop outfits in songcraft and deft production.
