Air Traffic Controller

Boston-bred singer-songwriter Dave Munro served in the U.S. Navy as a real-life air traffic controller, sending out 4-track demos during his deployment. He returned home to discover a myriad of fans, as well as singer/songwriter Casey Sullivan. This prompted Munro to switch careers, but keep the name, with the birth of Air Traffic Controller. They soon won over multi-instrumentalist Steve Scott and L.A. producer Bleu, followed by big brother Richie Munro on drums, and violinist Jeremy Van Cleave. Their debut album, “The One,” was released in 2009 to much acclaim, and they followed with the release of “Nordo” in 2012, whose lead single, “You Know Me,” cemented them as college radio and indie blog darlings. For their new single, “On The Wire,” Sullivan comes forward as the lead vocalist, adding a dreamy overtone to the band’s already-exuberant sound. Her voice beautifully soars over a handclap-friendly beat, sparkling guitars and hypnotizing synths. The tune, co-written as well as produced by Bleu, is one of those festival-ready songs that might get Air Traffic Controller in front of festival-sized crowds.
