Sound the horns: The Lonely Wild have not only completed their fan-funded sophomore album, but that record, “Chasing White Light,” will be released Oct. 2. And with trumpets blaring, the L.A. quintet this week introduce the new single “Snow,” a four-minute gallop that finds their Ennio Morricone-influenced Americana at its boldest and most visceral. It’s a song for one of those man-ahorseback panoramas in a spahetti Western, with frontman Andrew Carroll’s leading-man vocals backed by pristine folk harmonies and giddy-up rhythms. Except, of course, that Carroll is complaining that “there’s nothing on the television.” The song is from sessions that the Lonely Wild — Carroll, with Dave Farina, Jessi Williams, Andrew Schneider and Ryan Ross — did with producer John Vanderslice in his Tiny Telephone Studios in Sam Francisco. “We walked into the studio with an album about death,” Carroll says, “and John taught us to let go. … He’s kind of like Willy Wonka in the studio — he’s always on the move, whipping up this infectious, magical energy. The first thing we did was throw out all of our demos and approach each song like it was the first time we ever played it. This freed us to take risks, make new discoveries, and perform with fresh inspiration.”

Update: The band announced Tuesday they have signed with eOne Music / Fast Plastic, which will be releasing the album.
