Are these indeed “Dark Days?” You don’t have to look past today’s headlines to make a case for it, and on the title track to the Gold Star album “Dark Days,” singer-songwriter Marlon Rabenreither makes the melancholy intensely personal. “If we make it home / we’re never speak again,” he sings with a note of finality in the simple acoustic elegy. The song gets an equally straightforward black-and-white video treatment from Mic Becker, with Rabenereither portrayed as a man alone, strumming to the skies and communing with the stars. Because, hey, the heavens always listen. The singer says this particular song came to him in his sleep; his disquietude is the album’s gain. “Dark Days,” produced by Nic Judoin, came out in June.
