Ears Wide Open: Sleeptalk

Sleeptalk

San Fernando Valley quintet Sleeptalk have had a busy year. In the spring they released their debut EP “Pure,” and this week they follow up with “Young,” a five-song volley of sleek cherub-rock all ready for FM airwaves. The band combines the talents of singer Anthony Fitzpatrick, guitarists Jason Fitzpatrick and Justin Melchor, bassist Paul McGill and drummer Jacques Harmandjian. They’re going for stadium-sized atmospherics on the title track to the new EP — oh, the restless energy of being “Young” and stuck in the suburbs. “We’re just dying to feel alive,” Fitzpatrick sings in the chorus, and there we can relate. Sleeptalk’s new EP is out on Friday.
