The Temper Trap

It’s been years since we’ve heard from London-based Australians The Temper Trap.  Their 2009 single “Sweet Disposition” made it impossible for the band to fade away into obscurity. Thanks in part to its use in the movie “(500) Days of Summer,” the inescapable hit became the soundtrack to every road trip taken by a twenty-something the following year. After four years, the quartet of singer-guitarist Dougy Madnagi, bassist Jonny Aherne, drummer Toby Dundas and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Greer (guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto having left the band in 2013), are back full-throttle with a new album and an upcoming tour.  Their third album, “Thick as Thieves” – out June 10 via Glassnote Records – marks the first time the band has collaborated with outside writers. Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter), Malay (Frank Ocean), and Pascal Gabriel (Ladyhawke, Goldfrapp) all contributed to the album. Don’t worry though, the Temper Trap still maintain their signature anthemic sound. Justin Parker (Lana Del Rey, Sia, Bat For Lashes) lent his skills to co-write “Fall Together,” the first single off the forthcoming album. The track is a big sing-along with the potential to stomp the Temper Trap back onto the radio waves and into aging hipsters’ hearts.
