If life weren’t riddled with so many stupefying contradictions, then we wouldn’t feel paralyzed by doubt and angst. And, as the new Ramonda Hammer video suggests, we wouldn’t feel like the objects of our desire (like our bottles of beer) were suspended in mid-air just out of our reach. The L.A. quartet — Devin Davis, Andy Hengl, Justin Geter and Danny Louangxay — screams it all away on “If, Then,” a track from their grunge-y album “Whatever Than Means,” released in April. The new visual, directed by Michael Chance and filmed in part at the Smell, stars Meghan Cox as a soul in a state of disconnect, finding a kindred spirit in singer Davis’ confessional conditionals at the song’s powerful close: “If you’re hearing this song, then I’m something / If you’re singing along, then that’s something / If you’re crying like I am, I guess that’s something / And I’m not the only one who feels like nothing.”
