If you’re a Local Natives fan who’s been waiting for the L.A. quintet to rock out, you’ll have to bide your time. They announced this week that their third album, “Sunlit Youth,” would be out Sept. 9, and with that news came the album’s second teaser song, the album opener “Villainy.” When they previewed the song live last month, Taylor Rice introduced it as something that’s “super-new for us” — a guitar-less song. Except for that distinction, it was the least memorable new song they played that night. Like much of its ilk, the song has all the stickiness of a freshly polished marble hallway, but at least the band — Rice, Kelcey Ayer, Ryan Hahn, Matt Frazier and Nik Ewing — are not repeating themselves. Better days, and more well-spent 4 minutes, are ahead.
