Two and a half months after supporting the Coathangers at the Echo, Death Valley Girls returned to the Sunset Boulevard venue on Thursday night to celebrate the release of their new album “Glow in the Dark.” Both the high-energy show and the glowing lighting befit the album’s title — DVG set the eerie tone for the night complete with a couple of tombstones, taxidermied animals, glow-in-the-dark and accessories and a towering Satan named “Waffles.” Frontwoman Bonnie Bloomgarden engaged crowd throughout with fun banter, and the audience responded with a surge that pressed those up front against the stage. During the encore, Bloomgarden invited onstage a fan who had shouted that he needed a hug. She gave him one, and Tlet him stay onstage while they performed their last song.
Frankie & the Witch Fingers and Peach Kelli Pop opened the night.
