Red Hearts White Ribbons are a band formed this past winter by longtime friends Curt Barlage (formerly of the Bixby Knolls, who called it quits last year) and Arshak Alozian (Horsha On The Moon), hitching their wagon to the current shoegaze revival that their previous bands came too early for. “We were playing this back in the day,” Barlage says. “By the time I came of age, shoegaze had been dead for a few years and nobody here in the States was into the big reverb spitting out of our amps.”

And what better to visually accompany that wall of sound than the Rain Room at LACMA? The L.A. duo teamed with director Steven Soria on the music video for “Running Always,” using footage shot guerilla-style in the installation staged by the artist collective Random International. Featuring actress Emma Cecila and shot with a Galaxy S6 camera, the band pulled it off by queueing up for the exhibition early and getting most of the shots before the room filled up.

The song is from Red Hearts White Ribbons’ debut EP, due July 20 on Respectful Lust Records.
