Cornelius, aka Japanese producer and musical adventurer Keigo Oyamada, visited the Orpheum Theatre in downtown L.A. on Saturday to give a performance of the album that vaulted him to international acclaim, 1997’s “Fantasma.” With Yumiko Ono of Buffalo Daughter in his live band, Cornelius disappointed no one — least of all Beck (to whom Oyamada was compared upon the album’s release), who joined the band on stage. It was one of six North American “Fantasma” shows; the album, previously out of print, was recently re-issed with bonus tracks by Lefse Records. Nosaj Thing opened the night with a DJ set.
