The 78th annual Chinatown Mid-Autumn Moon Festival on Saturday night had it all — genre-spanning bands that dished out rock ’n’ soul, dance-punk, mystical psych-rock, garage-rock, guitar-pop, dream-pop and electro-pop, along with a cranky Capuchin monkey for the Year of the Monkey. The night on the LA Weekly Live Music Stage was capped by back-to-back-to-back incendiary performance by Moon Honey, Sego and Sugar Fly, preceded by equally gripping sets from Brightener, GRIT, Ray & Remora and Alina Bea.

The moon rose in the east just as Moon Honey began their set. Confetti cannons went off. There were mooncakes and other performers. The monkey had no comment, but this gallery says it all.
