King Shelter

“Everything Hurts” is the latest in a series of singles from King Shelter , following last month’s “Preoccupy.” Recorded at Hybrid Studios with Adam Castilla of the Colourist, the Orange County “salad rock” band plans to continue a steady stream of single releases throughout the rest of 2016. “Everything Hurts” tells the story of frontman Taylor Hecocks’ grandfather, who passed away about a year ago. It describes his grandfather meeting his wife, a Vegas star he married impulsively at a drive-up chapel, losing her in 2005, drinking, smoking, and suffering, but painted in a loving way. Can’t we all relate to that magical place in our hearts reserved for grandparents and their stories? “Life is hard,” says Hecocks. “The American dream isn’t really a dream; it’s a vortex of preoccupations. But after all is said and done, the corner store is still gonna be selling those sweet cowboy killers and vodka.”
