Smiling faces and simple, scuzzy guitars: Those are two sure-fire signs that Hinds are back in town. The Madrid quartet — Ana Perrote, Carlotta Cosial, Ade Martín and Amber Grimbergen — returned to L.A. (en route to a gig today at Beach Goth) in support of their debut album “Leave Me Alone.” They brought their lo-lo-lo-fi charm to the Regent Theater on Friday, which was almost full by the time the first of the night’s three bands, the Tracks, went on.

L.A. cumbia-punk quartet Thee Commons, wearing wolf masks and accompanied by somebody in a gorilla costume, worked the crowd into a proper frenzy for the headliners, who skipped merrily onstage, burst into action and invited two Hinds-tattoed fans whom they had met in Santa Barbara onstage. As has been typical with Hinds shows, more fans took the opportunity to pose with their heroes, and by the end — with some of Hinds crowd-surfing — the stage was packed with fans.
