Cate Le Bon kicked off her national tour on Thursday night with a sold-out show at the historic Highland Park Ebell Club. The packed venue full of fans hanging on every angular guitar line and whimsical melodic turn enjoyed songs from her most recent Drag City-released record, “Crab Day,” while also celebrating a new 12-inch, “Rock Pool,” due out later this month. The band rotated instruments behind Le Bon throughout the set, creating an interesting mix of textures which complimented Le Bon’s frisky guitar-play. Friend and collaborator, slash co-producer of her album, Josiah Steinbrick opened the show, and DJ Devendra Banhart provided pre-show vinyl selections.
