Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan kicked off a six-date U.S. tour on Wednesday night at the Teragram Ballroom in support of her third album, “At Swim,” released last August. Soft-spoken but possessing a delicate strength in her sound, Hannigan enraptured the big crowd, many of whom enjoyed the songs with their eyes closed. She also shared an anecdote about her hero for the night: Hannigan had left something back at her hotel, so her manager called her an Uber so she could fetch it. While awaiting her ride, a car pulled up. “Are you my Uber?” she asked. “No, but are you Lisa Hannigan?” the driver inquired. She accepted the ride and was quickly ferried to the hotel and back. She later dedicated the single “Snow” to “Jonah,” her heroic non-Uber driver.

Portland’s Heather Woods Broderick opened the night with a solo set of dreamy, moody songs and later played in Hannigan’s backing band.
