Hour Of The Time Majesty Twelve, more succinctly known as psych-pop explorers HOTT MT, have a new album, “AU,” coming out May 4 via their own label Mutation Records. This will be the second full-length album for Spooki Tavi and Ashi Dala, following 2012’s “I Made This.” Since that time, in addition to running DIY space Non Plus Ultra, which recently breathed its last beer-tinged breath, the band has collaborated with the Flaming Lips, Ariel Pink, Erykah Badu, and Ke$ha, squeezing in a little stalking and some musical terrorism along the way. The new album is bigger and even more lush than the first, but ever so gentle even when venturing into experimental territory. The video for the latest single off “AU,” “A Night In Chinatown” centers around Non Plus Ultra (like the Buzz Bands LA-premiered “Starheart”). In it, a mummy makes its way from a dumpster in Chinatown to the space, and plays video games backstage.

Saying goodbye to their warehouse, the duo share these final words: “All of us at Non Plus Ultra have been together for years. Our ideals brought us together, and we built a space and a business on them. Non Plus Ultra showed us that we aren’t alone in our desires. There are so many people in this town who share our values. We’ve made and lost spaces before, but this time we’ve got an incredible support system.”

As this statement suggests, Non Plus Ultra will rise again in some way, shape, or form.
