Canada’s the New Pornographers kicked off their tour in support of their widely acclaimed new album “Whiteout Conditions” with a storm of hook-filled power-pop songs on Wednesday night at the Theatre at Ace Hotel.

The septet — Carl Newman, Neko Case, Kathryn Calder, John Collins, Blaine Thurier, Todd Fancey and Joe Seiders, abetted by touring performer Simi Stone — spaced the evening’s 20 songs nicely over their seven-album career, playing five from the fast-paced new album.

Waxahatchee opened the show.
