No Doubt’s Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont and dynamic AFI frontman Davey Havok started writing songs together in 2014, secretly formed Dreamcar, and now their self-titled debut album arrives May 12 via Columbia Records. A new single, “All Of The Dead Girls,” is out today. At the Roxy on Wednesday night, many fans in the crowd sported their vintage AFI and No Doubt tees and paraphernalia, and eagerly soaked up the band’s energetic 1980s dancefloor theatrics. Bassist Kanal said the last time he played the Roxy was twenty years ago. Opener Sharp/Shock added a pure throwback to early punk (even covering The Clash’s “Police On My Back”), powering straight through their set without much stopping.

Dreamcar set list: After I Confessed, The Assailant, Born to Lie, Slip on the Moon, The Preferred, Moonage Daydream (David Bowie), On The Charts, Do Nothing, Ever Lonely, Don’t Let Me Love, All of the Dead, Girls, No More Mr Nice Guy (Alice Cooper), Show Me Mercy, Kill for Candy
