Josh Legg will be enjoying some time on the high seas this summer, and as he has each year since about 2012, he’s made a song for it. “Spread Love” is new single from Goldroom, the electronic musician’s first release since last year’s full-length “West of the West.” The effervescent dance track, co-written by Ryland Blackinton, features vocals from L.A.-based Irish singer-songwriter Rooty, aka Ruth-Anne Cunhingham, herself responsible for co-writing hits for the likes of JoJo, Britney Spears and One Direction. “My goal for this song was to try and capture the kind of simple earnestness that a lot of early French House had, which was a major inspiration for me,” Legg says. “Playing it on the road the last few months, the vibe in the room would just light up as audiences reacted to the energy of the song. It felt like it was the right time to release the song to the world.” It comes just in time for Legg’s third summer on the High Seas Boat Tour, which sees him DJing excursions in June and August around live festival dates that include Outside Lands, Fjui Rock and Life Is Beautiful. Wear something light and colorful.
