After eight years at the wheel of post-punk agitators Dirt Dress, Noah Kwid has entered his Eno phase. His solo EP “Transit Music” is a collection of five dramatic, minimalist synth tunes, evoking of a slow-motion Joy Division. “As I move away from Los Angeles I also move away from band oriented music,” he says. “Putting Dirt Dress to bed was bittersweet, but I felt it was necessary. A way to start fresh. To shrug off any expectations or preconceived ideas. A slow movement.” Fans of Dirt Dress will recognize Kwid’s preternatural intensity here; it’s just framed differently. As he says, “Jagged cityscape replaced with soft amber curves.”
