Where have the members of indie-pop fun bunch Youngblood Hawke been since the 2013 release of their debut album “Wake Up?” Except for one single and another song that landed in video game/commercial sync heaven, YBH has been in the background, ensconced in things like day jobs, solo projects, musical collaborations and impending parenthood. Although judging from their new single “Robbers” (out today), you’d be forgiven for thinking Youngblood Hawke have been partying at “the edge of the world” with flat-earthers and aliens. The single is a caffeinated collision of robo-vox, digi-claps and junk-drawer beats that reaches the edge at the 3-minute mark, with an acoustic guitar-driven bridge that stares into the abyss. “The single is a flashing collage of technology, violence, planetary exploitation and the comforts of hometown roads changing before your eyes,” the band told The 405, where the song premiered. If you’re of a mind to dance your way toward the apocalypse, you’ve come to the right place.
