Crowd-surfing took on a whole new level at the Echoplex on July 20, where Dead Kennedys played their first Los Angeles show in a very long time. How does a person crowd-surf on their head? It’s truly a gravitational marvel. The jam-packed audience punched and kicked each other enthusiastically, creating a sweaty mess of smiles and bruises. With Skip McSkipter on vocals (singing for the band since 2008), drummer D.H. Peligro (joined in 1981), and original members East Bay Ray and Klaus Fluoride, DK delivered all the hits for their ecstatic fans. Sets from Wraths, featuring Jim Lindbergh from Pennywise, The Gears, and New York’s The Last Internationale, helped make this a night to remember.
