Bow-tied, shimmying and smiling, Chris Baio, aka Baio, gave a feel-good night of danceable pop on Saturday at Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles. The Vampire Weekend bassist, who just released his second solo album “Man of the World,” said he loved the “techno picnic vibe” in MacArthur Park, where there was plenty of room for kids to frolic and people to dance. He thanked the crowd “for being supportive” and asked them to “give it up for the Levitt for putting on free concerts.” Before Baio played “Sunburn Modern,” he said, “I would ask you guys to dance with me on this one but you all are already dancing so that’s good.” Other highlights from his hour-plus included “Sister of Pearl,” “Philosophy!,” “The Names” and the new album’s titled track. StarRo opened the night with a DJ set. The show was part of Levitt’s free summer concert series.
