Daniel Johnston

Los Angeles concerts for Thursday:

► Hugely influential underground lo-fi artist Daniel Johnston announced his retirement from live touring this past July and has embarked on an 11-date “Hi, How Are You” farewell tour across the U.S. as well as Tokyo, Japan, joined by various “Friends” influenced by him in each city. Each show features a unique, collaboratively curated setlist. At L.A.’s Orpheum, he’ll be joined by Mike Watt, Ben Lee, Maria Taylor, members of Silversun Pickups and more. The Sundance Award-winning documentary “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” will be screened before the performance.
► In it for the long haul, Jonny Pierce brings The Drums to L.A. for a three-night stand at the Fonda Theatre in support of their latest album, “Abysmal Thoughts.” Methyl Ethel opens.
► Italian synth-prog-horror soundtrack legends Goblin are touring throughout the U.S. and Canada. Tonight’s “Sound of Fear” tour stop at the Regent Theater is sold out. Mondo Drag opens.
► Like a mysterious recurrent side character on Twin Peaks, The Black Heart Procession celebrate the vinyl compilation of their songs featuring The Waiter, “The Waiter Chapters I-VIII,” with two previously unreleased songs and a new track, out Nov. 17. The band plays the Echo tonight, along with Sam Coomes.
► British pop-R&B-singer-songwriter Jessie Ware touches down for one stop in L.A. at the Troubadour tonight to share the soul of her third album, “Glasshouse.”
The Offspring play the third and final night of their “Ixnay on the Hombre” residency at the Observatory. The Crowd opens, and tickets are still available.
► French electronic dance-pop group Yelle begins their four-night stint at Resident tonight, recently teasing their fourth album with the wistful single, “Romeo,” remixed blissfully by Lewis OfMan, who opens for them. Shall we danse?
