Shout Out Louds don’t visit Los Angeles enough, but when they do, their concerts are well-timed. The Swedish band, whose fifth album “Ease My Mind” came out in late September, visited the El Rey Theatre on Friday night — a date that coincided with bassist Ted Malmros’ birthday. The last time Shout Out Louds played L.A. was four years ago, on guitarist Carl von Arbin’s birthday.

Those kinds of celebrations aside, the long-running indie quintet was exuberant as ever, with frontman Adam Olenius frolicking through the audience when the band played 2007’s “Tonight I Have To Leave It.”

Sarah Chernoff (ex-Superhumanoids), whose solo debut “Warm Nights” came out in August, and Brooklyn-based Surf Rock Is Dead opened the night.

Shout Out Louds play again tonight at the Constellation Room in Orange County.
