Comedian, musician and “The Late Late Show With James Corden” bandleader Reggie Watts met veteran electronic producer John Tejada at a show about a year ago, and the two found some common ground in their love for classic urban electronic music from Detroit, Chicago and New York. They kept in touch after that, with the idea of pursuing some kind of collaboration. Wajatta, a fusion of their two names, combines Watts’ improvisational lyricism and Tejada’s production into a truly catchy serving for the dance floor. Watts says, “I’m so excited to finally release music that I think will inspire people to move and expand on the dance floor or groove in their headphones. I believe Wajatta is that culminative experience!” Tejada describes the origin of their first single: “‘Runnin’ was a work that was actually started by Reggie live on The Lot Radio Brooklyn. Reggie gave me access to all his looper files and I added my own synth and drums to it, layered some more Reggie and away we went.”

The song will be released by Comedy Dynamics Records on Dec. 1.
