In this video inspired by the early days of MTV, Moniquea delivers her brand of sassy wisdom meets funk pop via “Famous,” a track from her June-released album, “Blackwavefunk” on MoFunk Records. She worked on the new album with producer and label boss, XL Middleton, with some additional production from Eddy Funkster and Turquoise Summers. The follow-up to her 2015 debut, this new album experiments in blending new wave and synth-pop sounds with boogie and modern soul. The song itself is all about checking yourself. What are you doing for the world? What are you doing for the people around you? And essentially are you being a whiny baby about having to try. In her words, “The song poses the statement to a people who live their lives doing the bare minimum with an expectation to receive a maximum return. And, to those who are in a muddle for reasons they don’t fully understand.”
