Girlpool‘s Harmony Tividad and Cleo Tucker teamed up with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes on “Picturesong,” who contributed keys, guitar, backing vocals, and handled mixing on the track. Released by Anti- Records, this is their first new music since last year’s release of “Powerplant.” Hynes was drawn to collaborate simply because he’s a fan. “Their harmonies are some of my favourites that are out there,” he says. His production and beats play well with the song’s quiet mood, and the guitar adds a surprise swell of noise to counter Girlpool’s unruffled vocal delivery. Ever the explorers of their own interconnectedness, Tividad and Tucker say, “Picturesong is a word invented to explore what we create in each other when we want to feel deep love because of loneliness or otherwise, and brings into question the reality and delusion of the things we feel.”
