On the heels of touring with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in their native Australia, psych-metal/classic rock quartet Stonefield (sisters Amy, Hannah, Sarah and Holly Findlay) will begin their April residency tonight at the Bootleg Theater ahead of the release of their third album, “Far From Earth,” on April 13 via Flightless Records.

Their latest single, the title track “Far From Earth” is descended directly from the universe of Black Sabbath. Eldest sister Amy drives the lead vocal with Ozzy intensity while rolling the beat forward on drums, accenting with synth-y voice bends just a touch to bring the song further away past the Milky Way. Hannah (guitar), Sarah (keyboards) and Holly (bass) solidly support at full throttle while Amy sings, “Can we find a way to live in outer space? / Take me for a ride / Leave it all behind / We run far from the Earth and the sun. …”

Their album’s first single, “Delusion,” delves harder and dirtier into dark metal with a soaring melody influenced by the Middle East. Producer Stephen McBean (Black Mountain) and mix engineer Claudius Mittendorfer (Temples, Weezer) create a solid, unbreakable, mosh-worthy wall of sound while the Findlays rock the song hard with power chords and room shattering drums. Their album also includes songs with Rob Campanella (Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Gregg Foreman (Cat Power).
