Father John Misty returns with more apocalyptically romantic songs about loving and loathing on his fourth album, “God’s Favorite Customer,” out June 1 on Sub Pop/Bella Union. Produced by Tillman and recorded with Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado, Trevor Spencer and Dave Cerminara (who also worked on last year’s “Pure Comedy”), the album was written mostly in New York between the summer of 2016 and winter of 2017. It includes “Mr. Tillman,” which he shared in February, and nine more songs, two of which were released today amid some accidental album leaking courtesy of Apple Music. “God’s Favorite Customer” also features contributions from Haxan Cloak, Natalie Mering of Weyes Blood, Jonathan Wilson and members of the FJM touring band.
